On 13 May, the Deputy Secretary of Defense released a memorandum titled, "Updated Mask Guidelines for Vaccinated Persons." This policy implements the latest Centers for Disease Control (CDC) guidance on mask wearing stating that fully vaccinated personnel (who are at least two weeks beyond their final dose) are no longer required to wear a mask indoors or outdoors at DoD facilities. Aboard the Combat Center, all personnel will continue to be required to wear masks on public or commercial transportation, in health care facilities, and at child care centers in accordance with CDC guidance. At all other installation facilities, masks will be considered optional in accordance with the reference. Local commanders and supervisors may make other exceptions to this policy as necessary to protect the force.
San Bernardino County has transitioned from the Red Tier to the less restrictive Orange Tier due to declining COVID-19 cases and rising vaccinations. The move into the Orange Tier means numerous local businesses are available with modifications. Aboard the Combat Center, we continue to see a significant decline in COVID-19 cases.
Additional information, including where to get a vaccine, and guidance regarding installation services may be found at our Combat Center COVID-19 media site at https://www.29palms.marines.mil/COVID-19/. The Combat Center will continue to provide COVID-19 information updates and make every effort to keep our Marines, Sailors, Soldiers, civilian employees, contractors, and family members informed of current risks. Thank you for your continued support and perseverance.
