Jany Wasdin, family readiness officer for 1st Tank Battalion, joined the family readiness team in August 2008. Jany and her husband Dave, a retired Marine, first came to Twentynine Palms in 1971 and still call Twentynine Palms home. Jany was born in Bath, Maine and is the daughter of a retired Navy master chief.

Jany’s diverse 20-year career aboard the installation has earned her a reputation for providing practical guidance as a knowledgeable, dependable and results-driven individual. “I strive to prove myself as a ‘pro-active advocate’ for the Marines, Sailors and family members that seek my assistance,” she said. Over those 20 years, she has spent much of her time working in the area for family readiness, encouraging and working with families on many of the life challenges that present themselves on a daily basis. “Being in the military today is challenging in itself, but being the spouse of an active duty Marine or Sailor can be wonderful as well as daunting,” she said.  Prior to taking this position, Jany was the Personal Financial Management Program counselor for the installation and the administrative assistant for the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society.

“My personal goals are to be a constructive and positive member of my community,” she said. “My belief is that living your life with integrity and honesty will ultimately allow you to continue to grow and expand your world. I believe that maintaining a positive, motivated and enthusiastic environment will spark productivity and bolsters compassion. These goals enable me to give something back to a world that has done so much for me and my family.”
