Over 20 years married to her Marine has given Jillian King, Family Readiness Officer for 3rd LAR, a broad understanding of the Marine Corps. Jillian came to the Family Readiness Program after four and a half years of running the Exceptional Family Member Program, “I wanted to keep the momentum going and keep doing something exciting while working with the full spectrum of families” she said. She was involved in the Key Volunteer Program in every unit her husband has been stationed with and was one of the original LINKS mentors when the program first began aboard MCAGCC.

Jillian also has a rich experience with the local community. After living in Twentynine Palms for 12 years, her husband retired and the family chose to stay in Twentynine Palms. She became a family readiness officer in October 2008 and has enjoyed connecting not only with Marines and spouses, but also with extended family.

“Before, under the old Key Volunteer Program, we weren’t necessarily allowed to contact parents, grandparents, friends, fiancés or girlfriends. I’m enjoying the emails from parents and other family members that are allowed to get information now,” she said. Her unit reached beyond Marine Corps borders and into the local community when, in March 2009, the Wolf Pack was adopted by the City of Hemet.

When not helping her 1,200 plus Marines and more than 3,000 family members, Jillian enjoys spending time with her husband and three children and getting them involved in Wolf Pack activities.
